On Saturday 13th January a tutor team from Foden's travelled to Northampton upon the invitation of the Towcester Studio Band. The event consisted of a series of workshops, massed rehearsal, performance and an opportunity to hear the entire Foden's Band in concert. Over 60 delegates from 16 bands enjoyed an afternoon of music making under the direction of Foden's Musical Director, Michael Fowles.
The project, made possible with funds provided by Arts Council England also saw the commissioning of a new work for the massed forces, called Two Shoes, written by Foden's Trombonist John Barber. It's two movements celebrate the rich history of Shoe Manufacture in Towcester, and particularly the link between Towcester and Roger Bannister's record breaking 4 minute mile in 1954.
The final part of the concert was given by Foden's who performed to a large and appreciative audience.
